Her Story

Jamaican Canadian, Tania Hernandez, also known as Miss Tania Lou, is an award winning international entertainer, educator, author, motivational speaker, vocalist,  Jamaican folklorist and cultural performer.

She is a sponsor and mentor of City Kidz, an organization that seeks to provide leadership and encouragement to inner city children and youth in Hamilton. Tania  is also a member and Goodwill Ambassador of The Jamaica Foundation Hamilton.

The motto Tania lives by is “Bloom where you’re planted”. Miss Tania Lou uses her platform to preserve Jamaican culture and to keep the memory of Mother of Jamaican Culture, Miss Lou, alive.  She has recently launched a tribute book about Miss Lou, the Hon. Dr. Louise Bennett Coverley.

The tribute book, Ay Ya Yai!  Miss Lou: Voice of the Jamaican People celebrates a beloved national icon who has raised up her people, culture, and language for the world to see that "Wi likkle but wi tallawah". Ay ya yaii!
